We have a large Santa figurine that Sammy met for the first time yesterday. At first, he seemed pretty apprehensive, like we had an unknown person in the house. After seeing that mommy wasn’t too scared, he seemed to warm right up to him.
This will be Sammy’s first Christmas, so I am looking forward to seeing how he will react to all the festivities. Since he is so much like a child, I think that he will love it. I bought a very cute bone shaped stocking with Sammy’s name sewn on it. I’m looking forward to filling it with the Christmas toys from his Bark box this week.
A quick update on Sam’s allergies. Since going to the allergy vet two weeks ago, I am giving Sammy drops every day. He gets a bath every week, and he has a special spray every 3 days. He is still itchy though, and there is still some redness on his underbelly. I sure hope this is going to work for him.
I also had the gardener remove the eucalyptus branches that were hanging into the yard and rake all the eucalyptus leaves, since he is allergic to eucalyptus. I’m hoping that helps his allergies as well.
Has anyone had much luck with Apoquel? I read that puppies are not allowed to have it, but that after 12 months old, Sammy could get it. Sammy is currently 10 months old, so I am hoping to get that for him when he turns 12 months if he is still itchy.
Soulful Escapes
We had a nice day off together this week. We went for a walk to the park, where I tried to do some training with his vibrating collar. Sam seems to have that all figured out though. I tried to walk away from him so that we could practice the come command. He would not leave my side because he new the vibration might be coming. He did do all his other commands perfectly though. He does not do this without the collar. He gave me a paw, he did shake, sit and lie down. This tells me he really does know all his commands but doesn’t always want to do them. Lol.
Sam also did his best to help me with the Christmas decorations. He did this by laying directly in front of the tree, and also by putting his nose into every closet and drawer I opened.Â
