Sammy’s dad said to me the other day that Sam was the most human dog he has every had. Since Sam is my first dog, I don’t have many comparisons other than other peoples’ dogs, but Sam certainly has lots of personality.
The more he hangs out just with his dad and I, it seems like the more human he gets. I suppose that is a good thing. When he used to go to doggie day care during the workday, I noticed that he barked alot more than he does now. Now, he seems to bark very little. It is as if he noticed that mom and dad just don’t do that.
I would certainly like it if he just started speaking English one day. I would sure like to know what he is thinking. He does have his own way of communicating though. He mostly communicates with these long stares. The stares mean things like: I have to go out, I want to go on a walk, I want to go to the grass, and why are you leaving?
He is also very human with his expressions. He doesn’t just have a couple of typical dog modes, like wanting to play or eat. He has a whole range of very human like moods. He also seems to know exactly how to get what he wants from his mom and dad. Especially dad I might add.
I have mentioned before that owning a puppy is like having a child. Maybe more so with this one, who seems more human than most.Â
Soulful Escapes
I would be interested to read other stories like this. I am sure that other puppies have taken on very human like qualities.Â
Here is my humanoid story for this afternoon. On my way to work today, I was trying to get Sam to get into my car, which is on the small side. Instead of hopping in, he decided to back away with all his strength. I looked at him, and told him to stop messing around and hop in the car right now. He looked at me like he understood every word, and put his legs up on the front seat.Â
