Sam’s first birthday is on Thursday. I have been trying to plan a little birthday party for him, but since this will be my first dog birthday, I could use some advice on what to do. I was thinking it would be nice if he had some other dog guests. However, I am not sure if he would even like that.
Sam is an only child, so I think he does enjoy getting all of his parents’ attention. He also does not seem to like sharing his toys. So, maybe a solo birthday party would be his preference, but not sure. I think it would add to the sense of occasion if he had dog guests.Â
I also wanted to have a dog cake for him. During my birthday, he seemed to like the singing and cake part of the festivities even though he didn’t get any. I ordered a dog cake online that looked like a big dog cookie. I have to say it was a bit disappointing when I actually got it though. It looked like a very small dog cookie in a box. It did come with a candle though. I would love to have some feedback on how to make his special day really fun for him.Â

I also wrapped up some dog toys for him. I did a little less than Christmas though, since so many gifts seemed to overwhelm him. I picked out a few that I knew he would like.Â
Sam’s favorite toys as of late seem to be these robotic balls. You charge them up and they bounce on their own. Amazon has a few of them. I bought one that seemed to have a softer surface, so I hope he likes it.Â
Soulful Escapes
Before I had Sam, I have to admit that I thought dog parties were a little silly, but now that I have Sam I totally get it. I just want my furbaby to have the really special day that he deserves.Â
Any dog birthday stories? I would love to hear about them.Â
