Sammy sometimes really reminds me of a baby polar bear. He is English Cream, and he is also large for a golden retriever. Also, his favorite food is fish, especially salmon. This was surprising to me. I thought a dog’s favorite food would always be beef.
Every morning, I put out Sam’s recommended food, which is now Royal Canin Skintopic. The dog dermatologist recommended it for him. It is supposed to be good for dog’s with environmental allergies. Just a side note on that for those of you with dog’s with allergies, the serum seems to be working.Â
Sam usually doesn’t touch his kibble until something more exciting goes in the bowl. If there is salmon on the top of it, he of course dives in.Â

Once Sammy decides that he has gotten all the salmon he is going to get for the day, then he will dive in and finish all the kibble he can get. I think he has the system all figured out. He knows mom and dad want him to eat his food, so he waits for the salmon.Â
I have read that salmon is very good for a dog’s skin so I also hope that it is helping him. He is still biting at his paws and tail, but it is getting much better. The vet had said it would take three and a half months for the serum to start working and it has been just a little over two months now.
Soulful Escapes
Sam got an ear infection last week. Because of his allergies, he is more prone to them. Sam really hates the ear wash, probably because he doesn’t like this wash being shot into his ears. I really don’t blame him on that one. I read on this new ear wash that I got from the new vet that you can just soak a cotton ball and then rub the solution around once you take it out. I am going to try that this week and see if he doesn’t run for the hill when I try that.Â
Does anyone have an ear washing techniques for me? I would sure like to know.
